Right, well after much messing about with openldap, i now have my OX
server up and running, so far as the following are all starting with no
errors:
rcapache2
rcpostgresql
rcldap
rctomcat5
rcgroupware
rcwebmail
rcsessiond

I can connect to openldap using an ldap browser (Softerra LDAP Browser
2.6)
and Navicat is picking up the postgres database also.
I can successfully run ldapadd commands and i have already populated the
database with the init_ldif.ldif file.
The only problem i now have is in running adduser_ox.
the following is what happens:

# /usr/sbin/adduser_ox --username=steve --passwd=test --name=steve
--sname=test --maildomain=global-drum.com --ox_timezone=europe/london
--inetmail=true
ldap_bind: invalid credentials (49)
LDAP success
password for user openexchange:
SQL Success
#

I then try to login to OX using the user i just created, and it says:
ERROR: Authentification failed
I have checked the admintools.conf and it has the following:
BINDDN="uid=mailadmin,dc=global-drum,dc=com"

BINDPW= "{SSHA}blahblahblah"

the BINDDN statement is supposed to be correct, as i can do an ldapadd
with -D "UID=mailadmin,dc=global-drum,dc=com" and it works just fine.

According to the LDAP Browser, under the main LDAP window, O is listed
as global-drum Organization and dc is listed as global-drum

in admintools.conf, ORGA="Global-Drum"

does that matter?

I am wondering where the error is, and i can't seem to find it...
Thanks and Kind Regards,
