In my experience Evolution & Thunderbird can connect to the address
books (private & Global) as they are simply LDAP directories but it is
read only access.

I've done some testing of Sunbird and Thunderbird with Lightning
regarding the OX calendar. Both can access the webdav.ical calendar
perfectly but neither save appointments correctly. OX relies on the
client saving appointments (events) in UTC but Sunbird/Lightning saves
in the local timezone so they get shifted all over the place (depends on
your local timezone). If you need a full explanation check my other
emails to the list.

The only real all in one client solutions are Outlook with OXlook
plug-in or Kontact unfortunately.
