thanks for taking the time to list these things.
actually there's a complete rewrite laying around somewhere in my
filesystem which has updates on several things...

of course all info only applies to the referenced versions.
especially when referring to a feature has always been clearly marked
  "*experimental*, it is /not provided for general use/"
  (original emphasis!)
-> http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/758.html

besides...
  "ACI in OpenLDAP 2.3 has been moved under the DynACL framework.
   Its functionality and its configuration didn't change. "
-> http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/1284.html

for more see http://www.openldap.org/faq/data/cache/1287.html

I never did that and akair it's not in the howto. but alright, the
version published said it was kind of a diff to laurents...

actually there are a few scripts floating around (see the webforum)
which completely replace the ones that come with OX. otherwise you
won't be able to stop the services individually since all of them will
show up as "[java]" processes with no other info (only when using a
native FreeBSD java vm?)
but I's been some time since I checked, so this may already be fixed.

cheers,
